About

Hi, I'm Jasmine — and I believe every person deserves to be understood.

SheSpeaksSLT is an independent specialist consultancy built on fourteen years of frontline experience supporting children, young people and adults with learning disabilities, autism, AAC needs and complex communication across the UK.

Portrait of Jasmine Thiam, founder of SheSpeaksSLT

I'm Jasmine Thiam, an HCPC Registered Speech and Language Therapist and RCSLT Member. Over the past 14+ years I've worked across the NHS, education, social care and the independent sector — with particular expertise in learning disabilities, autism, AAC and complex communication, across childhood and adulthood.

Too many people are still spoken about, not spoken with. My consultancy is about changing that — through specialist assessment, AAC, dysphagia management, audits aligned to the Good Communication Standards, and training that gives teams and families real, usable skills.

I work with families, schools, care providers, residential and supported living services, healthcare organisations, case managers, social care providers and commissioners — anyone whose decisions shape how a child, young person or adult is heard.

Practical

Empowering

Building confidence and capability — not dependence on the specialist.

My story

Why I Founded SheSpeaksSLT

After more than fourteen years working across health, education and social care, I came to a clear conclusion: communication barriers are rarely about the person. They are created — and reinforced — by the systems around them.

I founded SheSpeaksSLT to bridge that gap. Not with one-off appointments or generic advice, but with practical, evidence-based consultancy that creates lasting change for the person at the centre, and for the families, teams and services around them.

Everything I do is grounded in the same belief: when communication is taken seriously, lives get bigger.
