For care providers

Speech and language therapy for care homes and supported living.

Communication audits, staff training and specialist clinical input for services supporting adults with communication and swallowing needs — delivered in person across London and remotely UK-wide.

Communication practice that holds up under scrutiny

Most services already care deeply about communication. What is often missing is the specialist structure around it: consistent strategies across shifts, documentation that reflects what staff actually do, and clear evidence that the people you support are genuinely being heard.

SheSpeaksSLT works with providers as a consultancy rather than a visiting therapist — supporting individuals, upskilling the team around them, and strengthening the systems that shape daily practice. Work is led by Jasmine Thiam, a HCPC registered Consultant Speech and Language Therapist with 14+ years’ experience across health, education and social care.

How I support care and supported living services

Communication audits

A service-level review of your environment, resources, documentation and day-to-day practice, benchmarked against current standards. Scope is agreed in advance and can be on-site or remote.

Typically includes observation, documentation review and conversations with staff, followed by a prioritised written action plan.

Staff training

Practical, bespoke training for support workers, seniors and registered managers — built around the people your service actually supports rather than a generic slide deck.

Common topics: communication-led support, dysphagia and mealtime safety awareness, AAC in daily routines, autism and learning disability communication, and total communication approaches.

Dysphagia and mealtime safety

Specialist assessment and management of eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties, including IDDSI-aligned guidance and mealtime observation.

Supports safer, more dignified mealtimes with clear written recommendations your team can follow and evidence.

AAC implementation

Getting communication aids off the shelf and into everyday life — from low-tech symbol resources to speech-generating devices.

Includes feature-match exploration where appropriate, vocabulary set-up, and coaching for the staff around the AAC user so use is consistent across shifts.

Good Communication Standards and CQC preparation

Implementation support to help your service evidence communication practice against the Good Communication Standards and quality frameworks.

Standards mapping, policy and resource review, training and an agreed review cycle so change is visible and documented.

Specialist 1:1 input and accessible information

Individual communication assessment for residents with complex needs, plus easy read documents, communication passports and care plan resources.

Written in plain English and designed to be used by the team, not filed away.

Every assessment and intervention is tailored to the individual’s needs. The exact approach will depend on clinical judgement, the person’s presentation and the agreed service.

How working together usually starts

  1. 1. Discovery Conversation

A free, no-obligation conversation about your service, the people you support and what is prompting the enquiry.

  2. 2. Agreed scope and proposal

A written outline of what is included, how it will be delivered, timescales and cost — agreed before any work begins.

  3. 3. Delivery

On-site or remote delivery of the agreed audit, training or clinical input, working alongside your managers and staff.

  4. 4. Written outputs and review

Documented recommendations or action plans you can evidence, with an optional review cycle to check what has changed in practice.
